It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
The weekend began on Saturday at the Famous Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans. Every year, the hotel‘s grand lobby is transformed into a canopy of white birch branches and thousands of twinkling white lights.
The gang walked from the Roosevelt to New Orleans’ famous Antoine’s Restaurant. Established in 1840, Antoine’s is the country’s oldest family-run restaurant. Dinner was served in the Mystery Room. The Mystery Room acquired its name due to Prohibition, the 18th Amendment prohibiting the sale of alcoholic drinks (from 1919 until 1933). It covered the era of the bootlegger and the Al Capone reign of terror in Chicago. During this time, some would go through a door in the ladies’ restroom to a secret room and exit with a coffee cup full of booze (in spite of the Blue Laws.)
After dinner, the crew walked to Harrah’s Casino and Resort to finish up their Christmas Celebration.
♦ On behalf of the entire crew at SYGNVS, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! ♦
